Pilot avoids collision near Bob Hope Airport

Southwest Airlines Flight 2534 avoided a collision with a smaller plane by making an emergency descent about 20 miles from Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, Calif. The abrupt descent injured two flight attendants and alarmed passengers. "I don't know if that kind of abrupt maneuver was necessary," said Barry Schiff, a former commercial pilot who writes about safety issues for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
