Researchers: Wireline awards dominate stimulus funding

The U.S. Commerce Department has opened the second and final window for broadband-stimulus grants, giving companies until March 15 to apply for the funds, which so far have tilted largely toward wireline telecoms, according to a research report. The government has fallen behind in issuing grants, partly because of heavy snowstorms that have swamped Washington, D.C., in the past few weeks.
