States, groups file 16 lawsuits against EPA's endangerment rule

Three U.S. states joined a number of industry groups and private organizations in filing 16 lawsuits in a federal appeals court against the Environmental Protection Agency's declaration that greenhouse gases imperil public health and welfare. The plaintiffs charge that the EPA finding will lead to rules that will hurt businesses. EPA regulations to curb emissions "will stifle job creation and harm our competitiveness in a global economy," said John Engler, president of the National Association of Manufacturers.
