Ally considers selling auto-lending, banking businesses

With an initial public offering appearing unlikely, Ally Financial reportedly is considering selling some or all of its auto-lending and banking businesses. Ally is 73.8% government-owned, and the company is seeking a way to replay about $17 billion in bailout money. Ally's mortgage segment, Residential Capital, is already being sold.
