An alternative social media strategy for advisers

Financial advisers should not assume that Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are the only or best ways to use the concept of social media to build connections, writes Carl Richards. In truth, these channels are probably not the best way to build a local practice. Instead, he writes, host a breakfast once a month. "Give yourself permission to let go of the obligation you feel to get a Twitter handle and a Facebook page if there are social activities that you can do with a bigger impact on your business, even if they don't involve using a smartphone," Richards writes.
