Farm bill provides $700M in research funding

The farm bill signed by President Barack Obama provides $700 million for biotechnology, genomics and molecular biology research. The funds go to the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, $400 million of which will go toward research through the Specialty Crop Research Initiative.
