Iowa's retiree hiring exemption draws debate

An Iowa law that allows retired public health care workers to return to work after just one month instead of the usual four was passed a decade ago to address the need for more nurses, and the measure will expire this summer. The Iowa Hospital Association wants lawmakers to extend the provision to help recruiters at public hospitals keep up with those at private hospitals.
