Senator seeks funding for Conn. prosthetics center

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., is supporting the establishment of a prosthetics laboratory at the University of Hartford, which he said could be one of many across the nation to provide O&P training. Such programs could receive $10 million in funding as part of a veterans benefits bill before the Senate. The Department of Veterans Affairs covers the cost of artificial limbs, observed Blumenthal. "But the training and the innovation has to be supported as well and that's the purpose of this bill," he said, speaking to O&P students at the university.
