Largest beef recall raises questions over USDA monitoring

The recall of 143 million pounds of beef -- the largest in U.S. history -- has raised questions about the USDA's ability to effectively track the country's meat-packaging plants. A USDA official, however, said that while concerns over the inspection process are understandable, "it's premature to make conclusions of what occurred" and that the agency is investigating the matter.
