Managers today need to be coaches, not autocrats

In today's workplace, it may be more expensive to replace an employee than to teach a deficient worker to do a better job. Managers who are successful at this rely less on autocratic style and more on coaching, take some responsibility for failures and respect (not judge) cultures, demographics and ages of people under their supervision.
