Demand for clinical, blood tests boosts Gen-Probe's profits

Gen-Probe, a provider of diagnostic tests, reported a 4% increase in profits for the fourth quarter owing to the increased sales of its clinical and blood tests. The revenue for its blood screening segment increased 13% as a result of the stronger demand for the Procleix Ultrio test for HIV and the hepatitis C virus.
