Vermont considers ban on flame-retardant chemicals

Lawmakers in Vermont are considering a bill to ban PBDE flame-retardant chemicals because of concerns that the chemicals could increase the risk of some cancers and reproductive problems. A prominent manufacturer of Deca, a commercial form of PBDE, argues that studies show no links between its product and health risks and says the ban would raise prices and limit the types of merchandise available to Vermont residents.
