Deere boosts outlook for 2010 as earnings beat expectations

Deere & Co., the biggest maker of agricultural equipment in the world, posted a $243.2 million quarterly profit, up from $203.9 million a year earlier. The company attributed the increase to wider margins at its finance and farm-equipment divisions. Deere also changed its outlook for machinery sales in fiscal 2010 from a decline of 1% to an increase of as much as 8%.
