Study: Mexico is top destination for offshore manufacturing

For the second consecutive year, Mexico has pulled ahead of China as the least expensive offshore location for American manufacturing, according to a new study by AlixPartners. Costs for materials, professional support, commodities, taxes and transportation were among the factors considered. However, the decision to relocate in today's challenging economic climate should be carefully weighed, said Stephen Maurer, the study's co-author.
