Maryland Superintendent Emerges As Finalist For Suburban Atlanta Job

Embattled Prince George's County schools chief Iris T. Metts has confirmed that she is a finalist to be superintendent of the 98,000 student DeKalb County, Ga., district, reports say. Metts, whose job status has been in question since the school board attempted to fire her on Feb. 2, says she plans to stay in Prince George's as long she can. Lawmakers since have ruled that the firing was illegal and are considering legislation to curtail school boards' powers statewide.
