Plan to cancel $1.5 billion telecom grant has schools scared

Texas Gov. Rick Perry says he wants to abolish the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund that funnels money to supply computers to schools, hospitals and libraries in poor or remote areas. Instead, Perry wants to raise technology spending by $5 per student regardless of need, a proposal that many educators say would put rural or poor districts at a disadvantage.
