Verizon Wireless embraces unlimited calling

In what is seen as a bid for top-market customers, Verizon Wireless will enable customers to make an unlimited number of calls in the U.S. under a $99 monthly flat-rate plan the company introduced today. Rivals are expected to counter Verizon Wireless' strategy with their own flat-rate offers, and analysts predict the move will lead to the "commoditization" of wireless services, much as what has happened to long-distance calling.
