Concrete process uses synthetic aggregate instead of sand

A California startup hopes its new process of making environmentally friendly concrete finds a niche in the construction industry. Calera replaces the sand used in concrete with a synthetic aggregate, which cuts down on the carbon emissions released during production. "If we just replace the sand, we get to carbon-neutral," said Brent Constantz of Calera.
