HydroPoint develops "smart" irrigation systems

HydroPoint Data Systems takes the concept of the smart grid to irrigation systems. The watering system does not rely on timers as traditional sprinkler systems do but instead uses a WeatherTrak controller that responds to environmental conditions. Customers include large corporations such as Wal-Mart and Kohl's, and HydroPoint estimates that its customers will save 11.3 billion gallons nationwide for 2009.
