California lawmaker aims to outlaw food trucks near schools

A proposal by California Assemblyman Bill Monning would ban food trucks from within 500 yards of schools between breakfast and dinner on days when classes are in session. Critics say the measure paints all food-truck cuisine as unhealthy and say it would do little to curb obesity as long as quickservice restaurants, doughnut shops and other eateries are operating nearby.
