Interior green-lights Shell's Arctic-spill-response plan

The Department of the Interior cleared Shell Oil's oil-spill-response plan for its Chukchi Sea drilling project. New safety rules, lessons learned from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and the latest science guided the approval, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said. The decision reflects the company's efforts in establishing an Arctic oil-spill-response fleet, said Pete Slaiby, vice president of Shell Alaska.
