Baltimore VA moves to improve disability claims process

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki and Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., announced that improvements to help the Baltimore VA office handle disability claims are ahead of schedule. Changes include enhanced training for employees, the deployment of a digital processing system and plans to hire additional staff. The Baltimore VA is the worst-ranked facility in the country on processing claims, and the new goal is to have disability benefits finalized in four months instead of the current 11.
