History teacher's donation gives a boost to Mont. district

Math is taking on new meaning for students in Tony Riehl's Algebra II class at Skyview High School in Billings, Mont., thanks to the introduction of tablets purchased with funds from the $2.7 million endowment to the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools. The endowment came from the estate of former history teacher Dewey Hansen, who died in 2009. The devices allow for the plotting of hundreds of graphs per day, rather than just a few. Riehl adds that the technology has boosted "conceptual understanding" of math.
