Microsoft takes aim at Gmail, plans Outlook campaign

Microsoft is embarking upon a substantial digital and television marketing campaign to promote the new Outlook e-mail, criticizing Google's use of conversations as a basis for ad targeting. Microsoft has incorporated social media as one new feature in the new Outlook, letting users "populate [their] address book with friends from Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Twitter and others," writes Edward C. Baig.
