Cedar Lodge Market in Thomasville, N.C., was a third of its size when Charles Dennis opened it in 1963 and "was more or less a meat market with a few groceries," said Dennis' son Mike, who runs the store with brother Danny. In the years since, the store has become a full-service grocer but has not lost its focus on customer service.
