Transocean will pay $400M over Gulf oil spill

Transocean Deepwater will pay $400 million in criminal penalties after a federal judge found the company guilty of Clean Water Act violations related to the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The company also was sentenced to five years' probation over the deadly explosion and fire that sank the Deepwater Horizon and caused the discharge of 4.9 million barrels of oil from BP's Macondo Well.
