AT&T releases report detailing government requests for location data

Government investigators submitted requests to AT&T for cellphone user location data nearly 38,000 times last year, according to the company's transparency report. AT&T received requests for 24,229 historical location records, 12,576 real-time records and 1,034 cell tower searches. AT&T noted it doesn't hand over user location information without a court order or search warrant.
