Ford says it gets permission to collect car location data

Ford only collects location data with a car owner's explicit permission and uses the data to support customer service requests and for troubleshooting, said Curt Magleby, Ford's vice president of government relations, in a letter to Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn. The letter came in response to a request from Franken asking Ford to detail its location data collection and storage practices. Magleby added users can request their stored location data be deleted by contacting the company.
