India eyes new patient-monitoring regulation

India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is considering a proposal that would require pharmaceutical companies to establish patient-monitoring units that would track drug safety and react quickly to such adverse events as harmful side effects and drug interactions. The units would also monitor drug withdrawals and other developments in markets outside of India.
