Iowa to pilot yearlong student-teaching model

The University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and Dordt College in Sioux Center next year will pilot a program in which 45 students will participate in a yearlong student-teaching program. If the program is successful, officials say they could expand the model statewide. "The goal is to better prepare student teachers heading into the classroom to help them be as effective as possible the first year and beyond," said Linda Fandel, special assistant for education for Gov. Terry Branstad.
