New findings on way body absorbs cholesterol

A study says a way has been discovered for the body to avoid absorbing cholesterol, possibly leading to a new type of cholesterol-lowering drugs. The study helped explain how Schering-Plough's Zetia works in the body; the drug is already known to lower bad cholesterol levels, but now scientists say they have figured out how to prevent the body from absorbing that type of cholesterol in the first place.
