"American Idol" stronger than ever, to rivals' chagrin

"Schoolyard bully" and "Death Star" are among the terms network rivals are using to describe Fox's "American Idol," which is defying most expectations -- and TV history -- to score its best ratings in its sixth season. "I think 'Idol' is the most impactful show in the history of television," said Jeff Zucker, NBC Universal's new chief executive.
