Scientist: To go green, roofs should go white

Could painting rooftops lighter colors help slow global warming by reflecting the sun's heat? Scientist Hashem Akbari says that converting billions of black roofs to white may buy some time to figure out how to solve the problem. He has concluded that changing the color of 100 square feet of rooftop to white offsets about a ton of carbon dioxide.
