Some raise concerns about pace of transportation spending in Texas

The economic-stimulus package will infuse about $70 billion into the Texas economy, and state lawmakers must plan quickly to guarantee that the funds are spent wisely. Still, some are concerned by the Texas Transportation Commission's plan to approve $2.3 billion for roadway projects next week. Lawmakers say the projects have not been identified by the DOT. Meanwhile, the DOT says that it will brief legislators next week and that the agency has been planning for months.
