Tax on miles driven could fund infrastructure, says LaHood

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood would like to consider a tax on vehicle miles driven as a long-term solution to fund transportation infrastructure maintenance. He says the highway trust fund is now antiquated, citing the need last year for Congress to appropriate $8 billion to make up the difference between what was needed to maintain roads and what was raised by the gas tax.
