House votes to block funding for health-care law

The House voted to prohibit federal funds from being used to implement the health-care law and to cut more than $60 billion from the federal budget for the rest of fiscal 2011. The party-line vote in the House sets up a showdown with the Democratic-controlled Senate, which has indicated it won't approve cuts on nearly the same scale. A stopgap funding bill will run out March 4, and lawmakers must approve a continuing resolution by then to avoid a government shutdown.
