Iowa may add secondary pertussis vaccination for preteens

The Iowa Department of Public Health may require preteens to get the TDaP booster vaccine to protect against pertussis. Forty states, including all of Iowa's neighbors minus South Dakota, already have the secondary vaccine requirement. Carol Harris, a nurse leader with the Davenport Community School District, said "school nurses will cheer for joy" if Iowa joins the group.
