New antennas drive interest in broadcast TV

Consumers are flocking to products that enable them to receive over-the-air television broadcasts without a cable or satellite TV subscription, according to this article. Antennas Direct sells antennas -- for $50 to $150 -- designed to pick up digital TV broadcasts, and the antennas are being carried by big-name retailers such as Best Buy, Costco and Wal-Mart. The Boxee Box now has a $49 antenna add-on, and residents of New York City will soon have access to Aereo, a service that will stream local broadcast signals for $12 a month, well below basic cable/broadband bills, which average $91.44 a month, according to SNL Kagan.
