Nielsen: Smartphone ownership defies income barriers among youths

Those ages 25 to 34 are likely to have a smartphone, according to a report from Nielsen that found about two-thirds of all consumers in that age range own one of the devices. The study finds that mobile-device use is so popular among young Americans that age is a better predictor of ownership than income, with more than 40% of young consumers who earn less than $15,000 a year owning a smartphone.
