UN: Aid response in Africa's Sahel at critical juncture

The UN leaders for humanitarian affairs and development, Valerie Amos and Helen Clark, on Saturday called for a stronger international response to stem the unfolding crises affecting 10 million people in eight countries in the Sahel region of West Africa. Approximately 1 million children living in the region, which is recovering from drought, could die from malnutrition this year, according to the world body.
