In-class breakfast pilot improves students' access to meals

An elementary school in New Jersey has launched a "Breakfast in the Classroom" pilot program in which students are served cereal, breakfast bars, muffins and yogurt at their desks. School nutrition professionals say the program has increased participation in school breakfast, in part, by no longer singling out students who eat breakfast in the cafeteria or requiring students to arrive to school early to participate in the program.
