RFS to boost demand for Brazilian ethanol, exec says

Brazilian ethanol shipments to the U.S. could increase to 1.19 billion gallons in the sugarcane season that starts in April, up 29% from the season before, as the U.S. ramps up the use of advanced biofuels under the Renewable Fuel Standard, said Julio Maria Borges, director of consulting firm Job Economia e Planajemento. The RFS mandate for advanced biofuels is set to increase to 21 billion gallons in 2022, which would provide ample future export opportunities for Brazilian ethanol producers, Borges said.
