By redesigning its diabetes foot care pathway, bringing in multidisciplinary teams and focusing on prevention, health officials in Portsmouth, U.K., have seen a drop of 25% in the number of foot amputations as a result of diabetic ulcers over the last three years. Prevention strategies include a new foot scoring process to help manage risk. “Patients are receiving care from the right people in a timely fashion,” said one medical expert.
