The town of Weesp, Netherlands, has an enclosed and secure "dementia village" that contains housing, shopping, restaurants and other amenities so people with dementia can live safely and as normally as possible. Caregivers live with residents to help them, and residents make many of their own decisions and go about as they please. Administrators say having dementia "does not mean that they no longer have a valid opinion" on daily life.
