Homeland Security: Shoe bomb advisory was routine

A recent advisory to airlines to be especially vigilant about checking for shoe bombs on flights from overseas was a routine notice, says Homeland Security Department Secretary Jeh Johnson, and updated to underscore the need for vigilance. The DHS recently released an advisory to airlines reminding them to be wary of shoes, liquids and some cosmetics.
