U.S. sends new GPS satellite into orbit

The U.S. launched a new GPS satellite into space on Thursday aboard a Delta 4 rocket. The next-generation GPS system joins 31 other navigational satellites used by military, civilian and commercial customers around the world and will replace a satellite that has been in use for 16 years. The technology allows positions on Earth to be calculated "within a meter and to a millionth of a second," according to this article.
