Click-to-call advertising poised to break out

Click-to-call advertising -- the one-step connection between an online ad and a telephone inquiry -- is one of online's priciest units, with bid prices in some categories reaching as high as $50 per call. As personal computing and telephony converge, marketers expect that the click-to-call model will be figuring more prominently in the plans of such online heavyweights as Google, Yahoo!, AOL and Microsoft.
