Advair asthma drug proves effective in treating COPD

Advair, already marketed by GlaxoSmithKline for treating asthma, was shown in a study to be effective in reducing the frequency of flare-ups from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The study results fell short of qualifying GSK to claim Advair decreases COPD patients' deaths.
