Google averts security threat to Desktop product

Having been alerted to a security loophole that could have put Google Desktop users' personal data at risk of theft, the search giant plugged the leak within a few weeks. But Danny Allan, a researcher at security-analysis provider Watchfire Corp., which alerted Google to the problem, says there is "high potential" for another security glitch. A Google spokesman responded that the company has taken steps to protect users from such threats.
