Who decides which old structures are worth preserving, and what's the point of preservation anyway? Those are two of the questions raised in this piece, which looks at Herzog & de Meuron's work at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City, saying preservation there was more of a "mirage rather than a literal quotation."
